Families and individuals do not have the profit motives of a business or the appropriation concerns of a government organization. They do, however, have important missions that require financial resources.
Besides putting food on the table there can be other missions like funding retirement or school for the children, getting a better car, taking care of family, enjoying a vacation, etc. The list is large and we are constantly bombarded by media portraying the "Jones" lifestyle implying that we need to keep up with them.
Working harder is always an option. Taking a second or third job is a possibility. This certainly helps the cash inflow equation. However, this site is about working smarter. And kind in mind that Ben Franklin was wrong when he said "a penny saved is a penny earned." That penny earned by working harder is taxed while a penny saved is fully yours.
It is certainly easy (and more fun) to spend money. However, it is not that hard to use the concepts and techniques of this site to take control of your financial life and accomplish the missions you value.
